The tallest mountain in South Carolina is Sassafras Mountain. It is located in the northwest corner of the state in Pickens County. Sassafras Mountain stands at an elevation of 3,554 feet (1,083 meters) above sea level, making it the highest point in South Carolina.
The mountain region is also home to numerous other state parks and natural areas, such as Table Rock State Park and Jones Gap State Park. These protected areas provide a haven for a wide range of wildlife, including black bears, white-tailed deer, and a variety of bird species.
